چکیده

The competitive growth mechanisms of ternary eutectic and peri-eutectic transitions liquid Fe–Ni–Ti alloys were investigated by drop tube technique. As undercooling cooling rate increased, the microstructure Ni40.6Fe36.4Ti23 alloy transformed from mixture primary Ni3Ti phase into complete eutectic. predominant mode independently grown Fe2Ti intermetallic varied nonfaceted to faceted growth, while γ-Fe(Ni) phases kept cooperative formed a lamellar structure owing coherent interface along $$(1 \overline{1}1)_{\gamma }$$ $$(0001)_{{{\text{Ni}}_{{\text{3}}} {\text{Ti}}}} $$ . transformation in Fe66.5Ni17.6Ti15.9 was suppressed due preferential α′-Fe as droplet size decreased. A needle-like precipitated supersaturated during rapid solidification, α-Fe/Fe2Ti characterized semicoherent. wear friction coefficient firstly increased then decreased controlled combined factors microstructural transition grain refinement. For alloy, refinement significantly improved performance after solidification. Moreover, had better resistance than ascribed hardening refined microstructure.

The roles of Eu during the growth of eutectic Si in Al-Si alloys

Controlling the growth of eutectic Si and thereby modifying the eutectic Si from flake-like to fibrous is a key factor in improving the properties of Al-Si alloys. To date, it is generally accepted that the impurity-induced twinning (IIT) mechanism and the twin plane re-entrant edge (TPRE) mechanism as well as poisoning of the TPRE mechanism are valid under certain conditions. However, IIT, TPR...

Damping Capacity of Hypo-Eutectic Zn-Al Alloys

Damping capacity of hypo-eutectic Zn-Al alloys as a function of rolling ratio is investigated. Effect of heat treatment after cold rolling on the damping capacity is discussed. Damping tests were carried out using the method of the free decay of vibrations in bending oscillation. With an increase in rolling reduction, the damping capacity was increased. As the results of tensile and hardness te...

Growth directions in directionally solidified Al–Zn and Zn–Al alloys near eutectic composition

Growth directions and crystallographic orientations of solidification microstructures have been measured in Al–Zn alloy near the eutectic composition. Al dendrites in Al–92 wt.% Zn alloy were found to grow along the h110i directions while Zn dendrites in Al– 96 and 98 wt.% Zn have h10 10i trunks. In the lamellar eutectic, a crystallographic relationship has been found between the dense plane of...

Lamellar eutectic growth with anisotropic interphase boundaries

We present a numerical study of the effect of a free-energy anisotropy of the solidsolid interphase boundaries on the formation of tilted lamellar microstructures during directional solidification of nonfaceted binary eutectic alloys. We used two different methods – phase-field (PF) and dynamic boundary-integral (BI) – to simulate the growth of periodic eutectic patterns in two dimensions. For ...

A Promising New Class of High-Temperature Alloys: Eutectic High-Entropy Alloys

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) can have either high strength or high ductility, and a simultaneous achievement of both still constitutes a tough challenge. The inferior castability and compositional segregation of HEAs are also obstacles for their technological applications. To tackle these problems, here we proposed a novel strategy to design HEAs using the eutectic alloy concept, i.e. to achieve ...
